Steve Allen Mobile Disco
Steve’s DJ career started in the mid 60’s at Peterborough’s Souldiscotek Club, where he attracted a following from a wide area playing the exciting Soul, Motown, Black Music and Ska tracks, which he and his peers had experienced with their visits to London’s Flamingo, Marquee, La Discotheque, and Scene Clubs
Steve established his Mobile discothèque and in addition to party enquiries quickly picked up bookings as DJ at The Boston Gliderdrome, The Dorothy Ballroom, Cambridge, Grantham’s Cat Balou, and Ramsey’s Gaiety Ballroom, performing with iconic names of the era including The Who, Love Affair, Prince Buster, Millie Jackson, The Crystals, Zoot Money, Chris Farlow, and The Foundations.

In 1969 he opened Cloud Nine in Peterborough, where alongside soul nights with featured acts such as Jimmy Ruffin, Doris Troy, Lee Dorsey, J J Jackson and The Skatalites, he established Progressive Rock Nights and appeared as DJ with groups that would become enduring names for decades to follow including Free, Genesis, Mott the Hoople, Argent, Crazy World of Arthur Brown, Curved Air, Stackridge and Barclay James Harvest.
The 70’s saw Steve appearing as DJ at University and College venues supporting acts such as Taste, and Vinegar Joe, and presenting concerts over a wide area with acts as diverse as Thin Lizzy, Edgar Broughton, Mud, Sweet, The Bay City Rollers, Heatwave, The Pioneers, Edwin Star, Jimmy James and The Vagabonds and The Real Thing as well hosting his Disco Roadshow at RAF and American Air Force bases throughout East Anglia, the East Midlands and The Home Counties playing the funk, disco and dance sounds of the day.
From the late 70’s and through the 80’s Jazz Funk scene Steve’s Slickers, and Shindig clubs were essential occasions, whilst Steve also featured at the major All Dayer Events at Nottingham’s Rock City, Birmingham’s Hummingbird, and Margate’s Winter Gardens.
Steve hosted highly his regarded Soul and Dance shows on Hereward Radio, Classic Gold, and other ILR stations through the eighties and nineties, and performed then, as now, as DJ at Black Tie Balls, Corporate Events, Marquee Functions, Theme evenings and Charity Occasions.

Steve continues to regularly appear at Soul, Motown and Funk Reunion Nights in the local area, and his Disco Roadshow is in demand all the best occasions.
The Roadshow features High Quality Sound with Amps and Speakers by EV, Laser effects, and Intelligent lighting from Abstract, and Martin, with formats embracing Vinyl (Technics Decks), CD (Denon), and MP3’s via Numark on an HP Laptop.
